Ledgerbound Liabilities
Equipable concepts with an insurable limit — new skills, passives, and time you cannot get back.
Company swag is the four-slot stat layer. Liabilities are the stranger half of Ledgerbound’s loadout: extra items and even concepts you can equip, bounded by an insurable limit, that grant new active skills or passives. Launch coverage from RPGamer and Phenixx Gaming agrees on the loop even when they disagree on the jokes. This page is the gear-side explanation. For voucher shopping see Vouchers and Swag. For the evening clock see Camp Time.
Swag versus liabilities
Reviews describe each party member as having four swag slots. Those pieces mix guaranteed and conditional stat boosts — the corporate merch layer. Liabilities sit beside that layer. They are not just prettier hats. They are how you import a new button onto a character who already deployed with the rest of the squad.
The insurable limit is the satire made mechanical. Rayna works in hero insurance. Equipping a liability is like raising the policy cap on a coworker: more coverage, more premium, more paperwork if it backfires. You cannot infinitely stack miracle passives because HULG would never underwrite that risk. When a liability offers a powerful active, ask what you are no longer allowed to insure on that unit.
Changing swag or liabilities consumes Resterlude time. Launch reviews are explicit: do not theorycraft in the camp menu every night. Pick a loadout, fight, then spend evenings on people or stamps, not on infinitely swapping a lanyard. Patch #3 (August 18, 2026) added an exception: if you turned on the time-management setting from Patch 2, equipping swag and liabilities no longer burns that tax. Default pressure still charges the hour. Details: Time and Burnout.
How to evaluate a liability
- Does it add an action you lack? A Water skill on a Fire-heavy kit is worth more than a fifth way to punch Plant.
- Does the passive require a condition you actually trigger? Conditional swag already fills that niche; a liability that needs “below 30% HP” on a character you keep safe is dead weight.
- What does the limit block? If equipping a strong active lowers how many other liabilities fit, treat it like a promotion path choice, not a free scroll.
- Can everyone wear it? Coverage says liabilities can go on any character but still consume the shared limit. Put the unique active on the unit who can stand on the right tile.
- Did you already spend the hour? If you swapped twice tonight, you already paid the comedy tax. Stop.
Cross-check A.R.T.E. before you chase raw numbers. Neutral damage with a fancy liability still loses to a correct triangle hit.
Combat implications
The full party always deploys, so a liability that only shines on a benched specialist is a design you will not get. Spread unique actives. Use Battle Setup to confirm ranges after a swap. Optional HR objectives sometimes want a specific action type — a liability that grants a heal or a pull can be the stamp you were missing, which then buys more swag tickets.
Replay maps to finish stamps, but remember launch notes: mock fights can skip EXP and still cost Resterlude. Do not rebuild the entire liability bar for a replay unless the stamp is worth the hour.
Promotion overlap
Promotion paths unlock skills through career choices. Liabilities unlock skills through insurance. They can stack, and they can also duplicate. If a promotion already gave a character a Plant nuke, a Plant liability is a worse buy than a Water safety net. Read both pages before you spend a rare drop.
Deluxe and joke items
The Deluxe Supporter Edition adds cosmetic camp skins and a lanyard whose flavor text claims a strength bonus against anyone who spent less than you. Treat joke items as joke items until you see the combat log. Liabilities that sound like policy documents are usually the real build tools.
First-week checklist
- Unlock onboarding on a new recruit before you touch their liability slots.
- Equip once after a story battle, not between every conversation.
- Keep one limit point free until you understand the next Vacari gimmick — see Vacari.
- Log keepers on the Camp Planner so you remember who already ate the swap tax.
Liabilities are Ledgerbound admitting that gear in a tactics RPG is just underwriting with extra steps. Spend the limit like a grown adjuster.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Ledgerbound players.
What are liabilities in Ledgerbound?
Equipable items or concepts bounded by an insurable limit. They grant extra actives or passives beside the four swag slots.
Does changing liabilities cost time?
Yes on default pressure. Patch 3 stops swag and liability burnout when the Patch 2 time-management setting is on. Avoid nightly loadout churn either way.
Can any character equip any liability?
Coverage describes them as widely equipable, still constrained by each unit's limit. Put unique actives where the grid needs them.
How do liabilities differ from swag?
Swag is four slots of stat boosts. Liabilities add skills or passives under an insurance cap.
